A limited number of USW By-Laws for Local Unions has arrived and will be distributed to department committeemen and stewards. This local will review these by-laws and vote on adoption in the near future. Please see your steward or committeeman for more information or to review the booklet.

MetLife Group Universal Life (GUL) voluntary supplemental life insurance for hourly USW represented employees will soon be available. This replaces the old voluntary supplemental life insurance coverage, offered through Hock & Associates and underwritten by Greater Georgia Life. The current supplemental life insurance payroll deduction for Greater Georgia Life coverage policies will end November 30, 2009. The new MetLife GUL Coverage will begin on December 1, 2009 for those who voluntarily sign-up for (purchase) the new available coverage.

Enrollment packets will be distributed to eligible employees as soon as possible.

ENROLLMENT FORMS FOR THIS COVERAGE MUST BE RETURNED TO HUMAN RESOURCES BY THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 12, 2009.

USW local 983 recently concluded negotiations with International Paper for our mill. The contract is currently being proofread for spelling and typographical accuracy after which it will be printed in booklet form and made available to our members.
